Aiden completed his drawing of the espresso pot. Even though he started the drawing in the upper left corner of the paper and was not able to fit the entire pot in his composition, he found a creative way to section it off with borders. It is an excellent drawing in its proportions and shading! On the same page, he started his teapot drawing that expands the width of the composition. I love that Aiden is showing more confidence in his drawing ability and is expanding his creativity. Bravo, Aiden!
Cam is continuing to explore abstract expressionism. Today he painted on four panels to equal a 24” x 36” composition. He chose black, white, and greys to create his painting. We discussed his use of depth: certain values and shapes recede into space, and others are in the foreground. He also used good directional forces with his lines. Overall, his composition was very unified. Good work, Cam!
PJ completed his Spelling and Wordly Wise tests. He reviewed and discussed his homework questions pertaining to "To Kill a Mockingbird." He was assigned questions over Chapters 22-25 of 'To Kill a Mockingbird," due Tuesday, Sept. 16th.
We learned about conditional statements in Python. Then we learned how to interpret Boolean data types. Next, we practiced using the integer data type with the modulo operation to find if there is a remainder. We learned how to use conditional statements in a program.
Libby and I reviewed what is in the night sky. Then, we learned about stars and constellations. Libby had a lot of fun singing "Twinkle twinkle Little Star". She created a drawing representing the stars.
We continued to practice our reading comprehension techniques. After reading a passage, we practiced summarizing the passage and answering questions as well as reviewing vocabulary. We are improving our reading comprehension.
Unit 1 Change Over Time Module 2 Natural Selection and Adaptations
Lesson Outline
Lesson 2 The Theory of Evolution by Natural Selection – We learned that in addition to variations that arise from sexual reproduction, genetic information can be altered because of mutations. Though rare, mutations may result in changes to the structure and function of proteins. Some changes are beneficial, others harmful, and some neutral to the organism.
Chapter 2 The Financial Plan – We examined the seventh component which is creating a plan for communicating and keeping records of your investments. We learned that keeping good records is just as important as making and communicating your personal financial decisions. We discovered that writing down your goals and periodically referring to them makes you much more likely to achieve them.
