Judie came and visited us today and was brave enough to be in the film. Not certain how to enter this note properly. Edited 6.7.21 asj to break out by student
We completed our study of the play during today's session. As we read through Act II, Sophia noted the various iterations of the lock and key motif and related the motif to the play's theme. In order to appreciate the dramatic quality of the script , after we studied particular scenes, we viewed clips from the iconic version of the movie with Anne Bancroft and Patty Duke . In particular ,we noted not only Helen's development but critically Annie's transformation as she overcomes the pain caused by the death of her brother and learns to love Helen. I pointed out how the playwright depicts this development outside the dialogue with gestures and stage directions. Sofia then took a short comprehension test on Acts I and II .She scored 100%.
In this activity, Sofia started her final exam. She completed a third of her test that covered basic skills of adding and subtracting rational and decimal numbers.
