Writing the personal narrative
Lesson Outline
Using the Lit book ,we continue to study how to draft a claim supported by a personal narrative. Today , we read a narrative by a young man who immigrated from war-torn Sierra Leone who had difficulty connecting with his teenage colleagues due to his having fought as a soldier in the Sierra Leone civil war from the ages of 13-16. We discussed the humor inherent in the dramatic irony as his classmates who play the role of "tough guys" try to impress the narrator with their faux prowess at playing paintball, a pretend war. We further studied how to incorporate personal experience into a personal narrative .

Graffiti Project
Lesson Outline
David was bouncing off the walls with excitement about the upcoming Spanish field trip at the end of the day. I am a bit concerned about whether he’ll finish his graffiti project in time before the school year ends. Today, he continued work and has nearly completed rendering all of the buildings. He’s made sure to have “something on everything” across the canvas.
