I asked Anna about labs and she wasn't sure if she did any with the previous instructor. I will design and incorporate a virtual lab on DC Circuits for our next session. I feel the largest component of the AP course is the application of science, and the lab piece really brings that to light.

I started the lesson with Anna by explaining the differences between series and parallel circuits and giving her the formulas for finding the total resistance in each type of circuit. I told her to view a video by Khan Academy on parallel circuits and then I showed her how to obtain the correct answers to several of the problems in her workbook. There was no assignment. This was my last class with Anna as I have limitations on my time that preclude my expanding my hours to meet her time requirements.

My recommendation for Anna based on the work she has done for me is that she receive an 'A'. However, I think my replacement teacher will be a better judge of her final grade in the course. I told her that I was turning over control to Mike because my time limitations would not allow me to give her the hours she needs.

I started the lesson instructing Anna to watch a short Khan Academy video about the placement of ammeters and voltmeters on a circuit with resistors. I followed the video by asking her questions from p. 253 concerning placements of ammeters and voltmeters. I then asked her questions from p.254 through p.256 about voltage changes in series circuits. There was no assignment.
