Day 2 of reading Jack London's short story,"To Build a Fire." Further analytical discussion of the author's theme and introducing sketch/doodle for writing his thoughts.
Ben shared an interest in reading a short story piece by Jack London. He selected the short story "To Build a Fire." Read part of the story out loud, discussed the text and the author's larger purpose to develop the theme that nature is larger than man and must be approached with care. Will continue day 2 tomorrow.
Matthew worked on the moods of the main character and the events in the story that caused the character to feel that way. He wrote the characters feelings and events into a graphic organizer. Continued to review spelling words with diagraphs in closed syllable words. Test tomorrow.
PJ completed his expository text reading, discussing and taking notes of identifying text structures to determine the author's purpose. He completed vocabulary activity 4 and 5.
Ben read chapter 6 of Guardians of the Galaxy and discussed text. He recorded notes using voice to text. Discussed author's theme of irony interwoven through the first few chapters.
PJ read chapters 3 and 4 of his expository text and continues working of identifying multiple text structures to determine the author's purpose. He also completed activity 2 and 3 of vocabulary inventory.
Ben completed activities 5 & 6 of the Fluent Vocabulary Inventory. He read chapter 5 of Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy and discussed character analysis of Arthur, Ford, and the Vogon people.
