As soon as I walked into the room, Ben told me he wasn't well, he didn't feel like talking, and he didn't want to hear me talk. Every time I tried to go over what I had planned, he stopped me. I told Elise and Jordy what happened and that I would work in the room or nearby. I went back in to give him a written list of what he needed to accomplish.

PJ continued to avoid and complain about doing the work. He reiterated his position on how useless school was and said he wanted to fire me (right before you walked in). He said he only wanted to do things that interested him. I gently told him that he would continue to have to do things he did not particularly like throughout his life. He finally dictated the summary to me. We then reviewed his online story, I explained that what he was doing was summarizing.
As I mentioned to Megan, PJ is fluent in his reading and retains almost everything he reads. I do not believe that intervention is necessary at this time. He struggles with writing which could be incorporated in his language arts class.
PJ was very belligerent when it came to the lesson. We compromised by letting him create his own character which was even more difficult. I then read two more passages and recorded his answers.
It was Ben's birthday, so he was not focused on work. He had to reread Chapter 6 which he previously said he completed. He went to the bathroom twice for 10+ minutes each time. The summarization was not attempted, so I told him to work on it over the break.

Ben showed difficulty with plural y-ies. I will reteach tomorrow. Ben was asked to read chapters 5 and 6 and write/type a summarization. I offered to go over how to write a summarization and why I wanted to see his writing, but he declined the lesson. He left for the bathroom two times during the lesson.
