R-Controlled vowels – Ben and I played a game in which you rolled a die, read the number, find a word in the column, read it, and color the square. The first one to get 4 in a row wins the game.
Reading – Ben wanted to learn more about Jimmy Johnson, # 8 in the Nascar Series. Using the web he looked him up and then we read and discussed the article in Kids Search Encyclopedia for kids, kidzsearch.com > wiki.
Today I brought in an instrument called a theremin. We learned how it used the electromagnetic spectrum to derive the pitch and volume control. Ben enjoyed playing along to a track in the same key as the instrument. He danced and was able to effect the settings accordingly.
Ben completed the spelling portion of the Stanford Achievement Test. He also worked on the reading comprehension portion. He was focused and cooperative.
