We are now working on more advanced moves with Hank.
We have introduced the idea of revealed jeopardy, knight's fork, and a pinned piece. I meant to review castling today, but he has already seemed to have assimilated the information.
Today we worked on adding rhythm to the chords we learned in the last session. We ended learning how the 3rd note altered creates minor chords on the piano.
He has an affinity for the game. Where many students will take several sessions to learn the names of certain pieces or the differences in the way that they move and attack, he has been able to retain and implement the information presented with ease.
Today, Hank learned about Chess. He did not seem particularly excited about writing. I want him to have a series of at least 5 instances where Hank comes to the school and loves every second of being there.
We covered the topics of: Board Setup, Piece Identification, Movements of the Pieces, Main Game Objectives.
After the quick ground rules, we started a game. We were unable to finish due to time constraints. But, Hank seemed to enjoy the game.
Next lesson we will cover more advanced moves such as castling and the like.
I worked with Hank to complete the design of the wings for his Ender Dragon. He placed the wings into the body of the sculpture. I had him check over his sculpture to make sure that everything was in place, and after final inspection, he placed it in the oven for it to bake.
