Lesson Outline
We began to watch three YouTube video episodes on a Kids Craft Channel, entitled, "I Can Cook Full Episode Compilation #1, which explained and demonstrated how to make Carrot and Courgette Muffins, Magic Mini Fishcakes and Lemon and Lime Cheesecake; however Richard asked to create a dish using the ingredients available in the kitchen. He was very inventive and resourceful as he combined water, sugar, banana extract, cinnamon and blended the ingredients together t a smooth pureed consistency. I gave him my rice cake which he soaked in the mixture and once saturated and soft, he enjoyed eating it. I suggested putting the rest in the freezer so he could enjoy it as dessert tomorrow. Richard was able to explain each step and process in the procedure and why he chose the ingredients he did to pair together to create complementary tastes. It was a fun class and everyone who passed by the kitchen commented on the delicious smell!

Humanitarian heroes at work
Lesson Outline
Richard participated in guided reading as we continued to learn about the Red Cross and other national groups, which are now part of an international group called the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement. We learned this was the idea of a man by the name of Henri Dunant who is considered a humanitarian hero from Switzerland, a country in Europe, which I pointed out on the globe in Richard's room. We noted that the goal of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement is to help people around the world during war and natural disasters. One way they do this is by bringing food and medical supplies to the people in need, setting up places to stay for them, and helping them find loved ones that are missing. Richard agreed these goals were very heroic. He then was invited to participate in an academic game with a classmate and his teacher, and it was him and his peer against me and the other teacher. Richard's team won! He went outside with his friends to end the day.

Mathematics
Lesson Outline
This morning, Richard used a fraction tower to refresh the concept of fractions showing halves, thirds, fourths, fifths, sixths, eighths, tenths, and twelfths. While working with the fraction cubes, Richard recognized that each fraction tower equaled one whole, parts become smaller as denominators increase, and that the cubes could be used to find equivalent fractions by making towers with equal heights. Then, we spent time outside naming fractions with various objects on the playground such as balls, trees, and garden plants.
