Teddy and I discussed maps and globes. I showed him a globe and large map of the USA and world. We located Florida, Utah and Texas. We talked about how only the colored shapes are part of the USA (states), but the white places are different countries. We talked about how globes and maps are different. He watched part of an episode of Mr. Rogers Neighborhood which showed how to assemble rocking chairs.
David has been developing his concept of an idyllic society and used the time to do research in order to extract those ideals and tenets from various social systems that he feels would best represent his society. He used higher-order thinking skills to analyze the concepts presented and problem solved different scenarios involving different countries and their relationship with one another. We will print out the flag tomorrow in his graphic arts class and David is fleshing out his concepts in composition form for homework.
PJ began reading Lesson 1 in Chapter 4 of his 'US History' book. Material included reasons why the Spanish wanted to explore the Americas. We learned the factors that caused conflict between Britain, France, and the Native Americans due to differences in their goals, which contributed to the development and outcome of the French and Indian War. PJ read about the technological advances of this time period in an Infographic which explained the Astrolabe, compass, stern rudder, printing press, the carrack, the sextant and the chronometer. All these advances helped improve navigation by sea.

PJ only put his hands in the rear of his pants once very quickly. I'd like to think it was just to adjust his shirt. Overall, I've noted improvement in this behavior over the past few weeks.
