Lucas's place within the world
Lesson Outline
Lucas is learning about his place within the world. We are starting with his home environment and expanding. Today he drew a map of his room, drew a picture of himself in the house, wrote the number of his house and wrote his street address. We went from his room to his house, to the street he lives on. Tomorrow we will talk about his community within the town and the town within the state.

Spencer and I talked about the limitations/difficulties of trading. He learned the characteristics of money (portable, divisible, durable, recognizable). He did well completing sentences about the characteristics. Spencer brainstormed ways one uses money. We looked at the symbols on United States currency.

Kellan was tasked with using a ruler to make latitude and longitude lines over a map of the world. He then plotted the coordinates given to follow Santa's stops. East set of coordinates was on a different continent. Kellan identified and wrote the name of the continents.

Spencer watched a brief video to get an overview of Canada. Spencer learned about the climate and vegetation in different parts of Canada. He used the internet to research information about Canada needed to work on a Canada Fact Sheet. We will continue to work on completed the Fact Sheet next session.
