Kellan read about earthquakes, how they are formed, the Richter Scale, and seismographs. We practiced his reading comprehension. He watched a video about earthquakes and he summarized what he learned.
Kellan reviewed his vocabulary words and their definitions. He reviewed for his test over the Renaissance. He completed several new caricatures of the states and capitals.
Kellan began with a fluency review on adding and subtracting multi-digit numbers to complete a maze with a path following sums and differences that rounded to 2,000. Then, we continued to work on comparing fractions. Kellan used multiplication to create equivalent fractions with common denominators before comparing the numerators. He also learned a shortcut method to compare fractions which will allow him to check his work quickly.
He read and discussed his vocabulary words. He located Italy on the map. He read an article about Teddy Roosevelt and the Portsmouth Peace Treaty, answered comprehension questions pertaining to the article. He worked on a caricature of the state of Nevada, and its capital, Carson City.
Kellan used the voice-to-text option to dictate a story onto the computer.

Lesson Comments
I had told Kellan that he can use the voice-to-text option when I am gone on Thursday, so he asked if he could try it today. Then he wanted me to make corrections. I showed him how to get his documents in Outlook to be prepared for Thursday.
