Kellan completed the activity "Why do animals need food?" and recorded his answers. He read the passage "Wildlife Biologist" aloud and in his head a few times to work on his reading comprehension. He answered the follow-up questions.
Kellan collaborated with Richard to create a Dog Man Storytime. Kellan read one of his Dog Man books to Richard using voice inflections an sound effects. It was so very special to watch Kellan express himself through reading.
Kellan finished reading the Dog Man book that he later read to Richard.

Barbara allowed us to use Kellan's class with her to meet with Richard during my time with him. He read with excellent expression and explained to Richard some details about what the author did that he and Richard can do in their comics.
Kellan was given a character bio sheet which featured 6 squares and a series of lines under each one. Kellan was instructed to create a headshop (bust) for each of the villains featured in his book. Additionally, Kevin was instructed to create a bio for each of the characters.
I worked with Kellan to answer the following questions: 1. What inspired you to become an illustrator; 2. What are your hobbies away from art; What would you like to do in the future? We used the answers to the questions to assist in creating Kellan's artist bio for his graphic novel.
I reviewed the completed bio page, fixed the grammar issues, and we uploaded the images into his book document. Kellan used the remaining time to continue working on his book.
Kellan and I began with a long division review with 2- and 3-digit dividends and 1-digit divisors with and without remainders. Together we solved problems on the whiteboard and followed the steps needed to find quotients. Then, we worked on 2-digit by 2-digit multiplication which Kellan solved independently. Finally, Kellan completed a 7 and 8 facts check and used the multiplication flashcards to review the 4 and 5 facts.
