Kellan began with the daily review on recognizing patterns when multiplying even and odd numbers. Then, we focused on reviewing and memorizing the 6s facts. Kellan used the 6s fact flashcards, dividing the facts into known and unknown piles before reviewing different strategies to help learn the unknown. Finally, Kellan completed a couple of long division with remainder problems and was assigned mixed operation problems for homework.
Kellan watched a video on desert animal adaptations and we discussed the adaptations of each animal. He read about forest adaptations and we discussed tropical rain forest and temperate forest plant adaptations. He read about mimicry. He wrote and illustrated the definition of mimicry.
To celebrate the 100th day of school, Kellan reviewed multiplying by 100 by finding the products of 2-digit numbers multiplied by 100. This skill was expanded upon to include multiplying 2-digit numbers by 1,000. Then, he completed the daily review problems on solving a multiplication word problem and choosing a division equation to model a word problem. For homework, Kellan was assigned mixed operation practice problems.
