design fundamentals. Continuing on our study of "balance" in form, Jayne created an "asymmetrical" design today showing the difference between this form and her "symmetrical" design from the last class.

design fundamentals. Alexa used her class time today to continue to sketch out her portrait of Cleopatra. She is really going into a lot of detail with this particular drawing. She will probably use colored sharpies for the detailed portions, and hopefully paint the rest of the creation. We also added the artists from the "Art Nouveau" period, into her notebook.

design fundamentals. Henry finished his painting of his monarch butterfly today. He then continued to work on his "Japanese" lantern. Very creative idea. We will then begin a study of "balance" in various art forms.

design fundamentals. Today Jayne learned about the word "balance", and how it applies to art forms. She did a drawing of a butterfly to show the use of "symmetry" in art. We will then do two more drawings, to show the use of "asymmetry" and "radial" design.

design fundamentals. Marcos finished his "Op" art designs today. He placed them both in his notebook. Now we will move on to the study of "balance" in art forms. There are three; symmetry, asymmetry, and radial. Marcos will do an example of each kind, and put this information into his notebook.

design fundamentals. Today we combined Jayne's art time and music time to create a collage about the Disney musical she has been watching entitled, "Zombies." She took pictures and created the collage, with a background using colors from the photographs. She also worked on some enrichment pages to enhance her music studies.

design fundamentals. Alexa is currently working on a drawing for a painting of Cleopatra. She is also working on a drawing for her "Art Nouveau" painting. After these are finished, I would like to do a study of "Impressionism" with her and the artists of that time period. We will put this information into her notebook.

design fundamentals. Since Henry released his monarch butterfly today, he decided to use his art time to do a painting of a monarch butterfly. He finished the butterfly and will do the background next art time. He also is constructing a Japanese lantern. It will have a dragon on two sides, and Mt. Fuji on the opposite sides.
