Phonics and Science
Lesson Outline
On Penny's last day this year at Batt, we had fun with a vacuum chamber we made using a Tinker Crate project. Penny guessed what would happen if balloons were put into a vacuum chamber, and she collaborated with two other students to see if her hypothesis would prove correct. Penny correctly guessed that the balloons would first grow bigger. We learned what the words 'inflate' and 'deflate' mean. Penny had fun feeling the air flow and the suction created by her actions using a pump, and then actually got to see the balloons inflate and deflate. We spent the last few minutes of the session watering the plants she grew in the garden. All in all, Penny enjoyed all the attention and fun activities planned for the day. We will all miss her happy disposition and effervescent spirit but wish her a safe and happy trip back to New Jersey.
