Today's lesson focused on unit review. Mercer reviewed material about significant men in Israel. He studied material about Abraham, David, Saul, Issac, and King Solomon. He answered questions that tested his understanding about who Abraham was, important Jewish holidays, king Solomon, and holy cities of the three religions in Isreal. Mercer spent the remainder of the class learning fun facts about current events.

Add finishing details to drawing number one of the "Painting like Andy" project. Focus on color matching with the reference photo.

He learned how to join wi, wt, ws, wi in cursive. We did an activity on his new Wordly Wise words reinforcing their various meaning, and then writing them correctly in a sentence. We did a timed practice reading comprehension section in preparation for his upcoming test. He is learning to understand what is directly stated in the passage, what is implied in the passage, interpreting the author's use of specific words and phrases, the author's purpose, and the tone, mood or style of the passage.

We played a game where we determined whether the thermal energy was transferred through conduction, convection, or radiation.

Work on "Painting like Andy" project. Focus on blending in the scales of the snake, leaving spaces of white for highlight. Be sure to create shadows around the sides of each scale to create an overlapping effect. Come up with creative ways to use only primary colors to create the same scale effect as the original. Blue is to black, red is to grey and yellow is to white. This compeletes the full value scale, the same way that dark green is to black, light green is to grey and pastel yellow is to white.

Today we continued to learn about daily activities. We looked up information about countries that have Spanish as their official language.

We warmed up with combinations of single and double strokes. We played through Lesson 10 in Alfred's Snare Drum Method.
