Elements of Drawing
Lesson Outline
Continued: Do sketch 3 and 4 for lesson 3. There should be a sphere, a cube, a pyramid and a cylinder. Label the highlight, mid-tone, core shadow, reflected light and cast shadow for each. This exercise not only helps with vocabulary, but it increases the knowledge of where each shadow should be depending on where the light source is coming from.

Lesson Comments
Mercer has good control over the pencils but sometimes looses focus making it look sloppy. He knows how to do gradients and is ahead in that area from last year. He really enjoys soft pastels so I'm going to introduce him to charcoal art for the rest of the lesson and his lesson project.

Mercer is doing great with his art and learns the vocabulary fast. Having some trouble just sitting and following through with a full drawing but he's more than capable. He's still on the 2nd drawing of the cube. The sphere was a refresher for him since he did that last year as well.
