Bari substituted for Bella's 5th period English class. When Bella left school prior to 4th period, she told Bari she would be online for 5th period. However, when I contacted Bella for class, she said she wasn't feeling well enough for remote learning and to please inform the office, which I did.
Bella came to find me at the end of 3rd period to let me know she had a stomach ache and was going home. She knows that I am her English substitute today and said she will be online for 5th period as she needs some assistance working on an archetypes assignment.
In today's lesson, Bella learned about DNA transcription and translation, including each step and all the key players in the process. Bella filled out a guided worksheet during our class time. Bella seemed to do very well with the subject.

Bella was 15 minutes late to class today. As soon as she came in we started our lesson.
Today, Bella and I began studying literary devices in preparation for our study of the play, "Othello." I introduced the idea that literary devices are techniques authors use to deepen the meaning of their text. We watched short videos and took notes on the following literary devices: symbolism, figurative language (simile and metaphor), imagery, mood/tone.
