Last day of school and everyone was excited. A peer was playing Rummikub with another teacher and we were invited play. It was a good final lesson in sportsmanship, following the rules, and how to compete but still be kind when playing with peers.
Last activity of the school year called for a cooking project, making ice cream in a bag. Student had to plan, set up, make the recipe and clean up. It was a fun way to practice some of the language and executive functioning skills that we worked on all year.
With the end of the school year, Tristan wanted to revisit some of our favorite games to decide which was the best. While playing the games, we practiced our word list and discussed good sportsmanship. We can be competitive but kind when playing games with peers.
With the heat, Tristan hasn't wanted to be outside so we brainstormed some new ways to keep our sessions motivating and fun. He loved some of the new card games so we practiced /s/ words in sentences while playing Uno.
Tristan seen in his room for an hour treatment session. Focus of treatment was on improving his sensory processing, self regulation, fine motor development and graphomotor abilities. This was Tristan's last day of school and he was very excited about bringing home a baby chick. He spent some of his session creating a container, temporary housing, for his chick because it was going to be transported later that day. Tristan has worked hard in OT during this school year to acquire the ability to write in cursive, neater in print, and with developing his keyboarding abilities as an alternative means to written communication. All of these skills especially cursive and keyboarding need continued practice to become efficient means to written communication. He has been a pleasure to have in Occupational Therapy this school year.
Tristan did squeegee paintings. We dropped paint in patterns and used the squeegee to spread the colors. He experimented with colors, patterns, and ways to use the squeegee.
