Critical Elements of Literature
Lesson Outline
Jayden read, analyzed, and discussed the next chapter of the memoir The Glass Castle. We discussed the first-person point of view and the effect it has on the reader. We also discussed the themes of mental illness and homelessness. Jaydn then drew inferences and clarified connections about the ways in which the characters influence each other.

Questions about points, lines, and planes and Betweenness
Lesson Outline
I asked Jaydn true/false questions about lines, planes, and points. She answered many of them correctly. We then explored the idea of betweenness in the geometric sense (not inclusive). There was no assignment.

Lesson Comments
There was a technical difficulty with connections, but once Jadyn and I were communicating, we were able to cover geometric concepts in depth. I offered to end the class early but Jaydn said she actually enjoys geometry class.

Drafting
Lesson Outline
Today Jaydn drafted a portion of her short story. We are working on limiting the critical faculty and letting the ideas just come. Next time we will have accumulated enough content to begin copyediting the materials.

Scientific Notation
Lesson Outline
We learned how to convert numbers to scientific notation. We also learned how to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in scientific notation. Next class we will also review how to convert numbers in scientific notation to their extended form. We will also do dimensional analysis.
We will be done with this math chapter soon. We will then talk about types of matter (mixtures, pure substances, etc.).

Undefined terms, dimensions, postulates, and theorems
Lesson Outline
I discussed some topics outside the scope of the course including networks and perspective drawing. I then introduced undefined terms including points, lines, and planes and went over geometric postulates in Euclidean geometry. Jaydn left a bit early due to a parent pick-up. There was no assignment.

Lesson Outline
Jaydn discussed themes, plots, and ideas for her horror creative writing story for English I. She was confused as to how to begin. She has her storyline complete now in her mind and felt confident with the assignment. She then read the next section of The Glass Castle and discussed the character of three-year-old Jeanette and the juxtaposition of the hospital and her home in the trailer.
