Great Britain's Mistakes in North America
Lesson Outline
Due to debt from the French & Indian War, the British began implementation of a series of taxes on the colonists. The British passed the Stamp Act, but due to colonial protests, it was repealed and the Declaratory Act was put into effect, which stated the British could pass any laws at any time, even though the colonists did not have representation in the British Parliament. This created anger on the part of many colonists, who became further enraged after the passage of the Townshend Acts, taxing glass, lead, and tea. This began leading a cycle of violence that ended with the Boston Massacre that led to further escalations between the British and the colonists. Sam Adams, along with the Sons of Liberty, began to gain colonial support for the fight for independence. Later the Sons of Liberty engaged the Boston Tea Party, dumping valuable British tea overboard, bringing a harsh response from the British. The two sides continued to escalate matters until the relationship was so volatile that British and colonists faced off in war during the American Revolution.

Intro to English I
Lesson Outline
In order to formulate a curriculum that was not repetitive, during our initial session we reviewed books and poetry Jaydn has studied over the past two years . Jaydn shared her reading preferences and thoughts on her past literature studies. We further discussed the use of writing double journal entries to record Jaydn's thoughts ,questions, and reactions to her reading. As Jaydn expressed an interest in the "horror" genre,I decided to start our year by reading some Edgar A. Poe short stories and poems. I shared a Poe website so that Jaydn could access a Poe biography and our first short story ,"The Tell Tale Heart", for tomorrow.

Current Events
Lesson Outline
The current events program for students enabled us to view aerial and land professional teams with the ongoing rescue and recovery efforts following Hurricane Ian. The devastation and damage is astounding. Entire communities and towns are just gone. What can FL do in the future to encourage wider swaths of its population to evacuate? How may the evacuation process be improved upon for people? Due to an injury of a FL football player, the NFL begins conversations that could change the league's current rules on concussions following back-to-back injuries for the Miami Dolphins star quarterback.
