Mesoamerica primarily refers to the pre-Columbian civilizations of modern-day central and southern Mexico and northern Central America. The Olmecs are considered the first Mesoamerican society because they developed the first written language and numbering system in the region. While many may think that the Mayan people disappeared, they just left their homes/cities due to disease, famine, and overpopulation, and then moved to other locations throughout southern Mexico.
The Aztecs became a wealthy empire due to their conquering of other tribes and collections of tributes. The most influential factor for the downfall of the Aztecs was their vulnerability to European diseases. At first meeting, the Aztecs welcomed the Spanish with food and gold, but then engaged in a fight over control of their homeland. Overall, Mesoamerican societies shared common cultural characteristics, but were also fairly diverse.

Native American History: Origins of Early People in the Americas
Lesson Outline
Several ideas exist about the origins of early people in the Americas. Today we explored the Bering Land Bridge Theory, the Atlantic Theory, the Oceania Theory as to how early people arrived in the Americas. The most evidence available makes the arrival of people across the Bering Land Bridge almost definite. There is also good evidence for the Atlantic Theory and Oceania Theory as well, but the evidence is far thinner. Many other theories exist, but what we know for sure is that thousands of years ago, people migrated from other continents to the Americas. Jaydn took a comprehension quiz at the end of class.

The Artemis I rocket launch was due to take off out of Kennedy Space Ctr. at 8:33 AM, but due to engine issues, the launch has been delayed. Why is this is an important launch? Because almost 50 years later, NASA is ready to return humans to the lunar surface. We looked at some of the facts about this new Artemis mission. We are apparently in a race with China to get back to the moon. It looks like the soonest the Artemis may launch may be Friday, Sept. 2. We are still waiting on that information.
