Jaydn read, discussed, and analyzed three chapters of A Thousand Splendid Suns. She then wrote a short essay on the author's use of symbolism of the trees and plants to convey to the reader the protagonist's hopes and dreams for the future after trauma and violence.

I worked with Jaydn on the Polygon Interior Angle Sum Theorem. I showed her the formula for calculating the sum of interior angles in a polygon with any number of sides. We worked together to solve for the missing angle in triangles and quadrilaterals. There was no assignment.

Jaydn read, discussed, and analyzed the next two chapters of A Thousand Splendid Suns. She analyzed how the young girl Aziza's explanation of tectonics relates to the story and the characters. She then made predictions for Rasheed's knowledge of Tariq's return.

Our study of the Age of Imperialism became very relevant this week when Barbados said a formal goodbye to Queen Elizabeth II, transformed into a republic and ceremonies were held attended by Prince Charles and perhaps the most famous person from Barbados - Rihanna. Fireworks peppered the sky at midnight on Monday and Tuesday as Barbados officially became a republic. It will still be part of the English Commonwealth of Nations, but Barbados will now be an autonomous nation. We viewed photos of the ceremonies and celebrations that took place in Barbados this week.

Jaydn read, discussed, and analyzed two chapters of A Thousand Splendid Suns. Shen then wrote to analyze the following topics: the extent that the author portrays love as a transformative and miraculous force and how the author dramatizes the conflict between an individual's desire and their sense of familial duty.

The plan was to teach Jaydn about the sum of either all interior or all exterior angles for any polygon. I was also going to show her how to find the measure of individual angles for any regular polygon. Unfortunately, Jaydn was not available for actual or virtual instruction. Therefor, I will repeat this lesson next time I teach her. There was no assignment.
