I introduced Jaydn to all of the special angle pairs. I included the information of whether the pairs were supplemental or congruent. She answered several problems on this material. There was no assignment.

Jaydn was highly responsive and showed a true interest in the lesson. That was a very refreshing change from some previous lessons.
With the coming of the Industrial Revolution, the powers of Europe were ready to spend and invest their wealth and they turned to places like Asia and Africa. No longer content to just trade in these areas, Imperialism took hold and Europe moved to formalize their political control abroad. Imperialism was motivated by the 1. promise of economic growth, 2. the sting of national rivalry, and a sense of 3. moral superiority.Europeans believed expansion would not only supply them with cheap resources, it would create new markets in which they could trade. A great example of this are the Dutch dealings in Indonesia.
Because of national rivalries, imperialism also pushed nations to almost blockade other nations from gaining territories. As far as moral superiority, this can plainly be seen in Rudyard Kipling's 'The White Man's Burden' and the Berlin Conference, which divided Africa with little to no thought for its people or their customs and traditions. We then covered independence movements in Haiti, led by Toussaint L'Ouverture, Mexico, led by Miguel Hidalgo and northern South America, led by Simon Bolivar. Jaydn scored 60% on the lesson review quiz.

So glad that Jaydn was back today! She had a lot of trouble focusing and she kept apologizing for it. I told her it was OK and I was here to support her. I can't tell what the issue may be re: focus or attention since I can't see Jaydn during our remote lessons. She did struggle today.
Jaydn completed part II of The Glass Castle and began part III. She then discussed the overall theme of the book and wrote a short essay using the theme to analyze the Walls' family members.

Jaydn has not been showing her camera; I've requested her to send a video of herself signing for me to assess to see where she is at and to see if there is a specific area to work on before starting new lessons. The student agreed to send a video before Wednesday, 10/12/21.
The plan was to formally introduce the properties of algebra that can be used in geometry. The basic properties of equality and inequality would be explained in detail to Jaydn. We would then answer questions together to help her to review. Unfortunately, Jaydn was absent today.

After a 25 minute delay in appearing in class, Jaydn was able to work some of the problems I assigned. The lesson ended when I got a message that the internet connection had gone down.
