Per the AP curriculum , we are studying the novel to analyze how conflict and plot create both choices and resolutions that reveal character. Joshua first identified quotes /passages from the reading and explained the nature of the conflict, generally independence vs the patriarchy, and then discussed what Janey's choices or resolution reveal about Janey. I discussed the novel as a unique bildungsroman with Janey evolving as she finds her voice and self . In this regard ,I placed some quotes from the reading on the board that encapsulate Janey's journey, and we parsed the text to isolate plot events and conflicts that lay the path to Janey's selfhood .
We will continuing working on infinite series, We will determine if a series converges or diverges. We will find the sum of the series if it converges. In addition, we will focus on geometric series and telescoping series.

We are making steady progress in chapter 8. Joshua has a good understanding of series at this time.
Review and analyze homework problem given 02/27. Introduce the general formula for determining the Ksp. Use specific examples of salt formations and their balanced equilibriums to show how to determine the constants. Define solubility and saturation, show that it is expressed in g/100ml or mol/liter
Define work as it applies to physics. Discuss a force is needed to move an object in the direction of the force. Introduce potential energy of location as gravitational potential energy. Determine that the force needed is equal to the mass times the gravitational constant. Elicit that as the mass increases, the gravitational PE increases. Discuss how a charged object can have a potential energy by virtue of its location in an electric field. Determine that when you push a single charge against an electric field, work is done and the electrical PE is increased
We closely explored the deterioration of Janey's marriage to Joe as Joe deprives Janey of her "voice" . We noted Janey's growing more fractious as she challenges Joe's masculinity resulting in Joe's violently striking her. We discussed how the depiction of Black society as violent and uneducated resulted in the Black literary world ostracizing the author. We also analyzed an intricate metaphor comparing Janey as a jewel covered by the mud of the oppression of a domineering husband.

Lesson Comments
Today we spent our time reading the headlines and conversing about two topics we found on a popular German current affairs website
(popularity of the AfD in Eastern states at General election and differences that still exist between East and West Germany / popularity of electric cars in Germany and particularly TESLA)
Today's session addressed locating quotes or passages that illuminate conflict, identifying the conflict ,and last discussing how the resolution of the conflict informs character. I provided examples such as "Killnicks (the husband) desecrating the pear tree(Janey's metaphor for love and fulfillment) After we dissected the metaphors, we discussed the sexuality of the description of bees pollinating the pear tree in blossom and examined how Killnicks degrades Janey as if she were a mule and deprives her of a "voice" or identity. We studied other examples that inform the character of Nanny.
Define a precipitation reaction, write equation examples to show the formation of a water insoluble product. Discuss that solubility can be quantified. Introduce the solubility product constant which is used to measure the extent to which insoluble salt will dissolve. Show examples of equations and formulas. Given a compound with its solubility in water and the concentrations of products formed, calculate the solubility products constant.
Lab exercises concentrated on the production of static electricity utilizing various techniques and procedures. The lab also stressed that an electrostatic charge can be produced by other than friction. The use of the electroscope is used to determine the presence of a charge, both positive and negative. Classroom activity followed.
We will do a few examples of limits of sequences to lead into the study of series. A series is the sum of the terms of a sequence. We will look for convergence or divergence of a series and identify several specific types of series. Examples will be done in class.
