Reading Comprehension Spelling Wordly Wise Grammar Phonics Literature
Lesson Outline
We reviewed his spelling words and what his homework assignment Is for tonight. He wrote his name in cursive and learned to write the letter g using the words rugged, jumping, and golden. He began reading a reading comprehension story about the "Mayflower." We worked on the sounds ie makes long e, or long i. We finished watching the movie, "From the Mixed Up Files of Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler." We reviewed the many details from the book in preparation for his test tomorrow.
Dane used the duration of class to add details to his character. He added a suit onto his character and began to add facial features. He learned how to import reference photos onto his canvas and then discard them. He also learned how to create a new layer and rename it.
Dane used the first 15 minutes of class to brainstorm/sketch out ideas for his first character. We used a storyboard sheet to brainstorm and sketch ideas for a series of character drawings. Then, Dane started sketching his first character using the pen tool in Procreate. He started with a gesture drawing. We corrected its proportions and then started working on the details.
Introduction to digital drawing and character design. We went over the proportions of a human and gesture drawings to map out their bodies. We did 3 practice characters on paper. For the second hour, he got familiar with the Procreate brushes, layers, opacity and other tools.
