Atticus and I have spent a lot of time this week on incomplete homework on calculating the percentages or values requested. He seems to grasp the concept during our lesson but the homework is not reflecting his abilities. Today, he completed numerous problems independently and correctly on the whiteboard and was given similar problems for homework which if completed correctly will allow us to move forward.
This afternoon, Atticus read Chapter 13 in his book, "A Long Walk to Water." He got right to work and read at a consistent speed, finishing the chapter in approximately 8 minutes. Atticus was then tasked with answering 3 short-answer questions in his study guide which covered material in the chapter which spanned two time periods. Atticus finished answering the questions with ease and accuracy. His
responses demonstrated good concentration, recall, focusing skills, spelling and grammar.

Lesson Comments
I subbed for Andy this afternoon, Friday, 5/12/23, from 2 - 2:45.
Atticus read an article that discusses the MODIS satellites that monitor the Earth's albedo. We discussed that scientists use this data to make climate and weather predictions, as well as recommendations.
After reviewing, correcting, and completing last night's homework, Atticus continued to practice using a formula to calculate the requested values, finding the missing percentage, part, or whole. Before writing the equation, he determined what information was given and what needed to be found. Then, he used inverse operations to isolate the variable and solve. Atticus also applied this skill to solving the lesson's real-world problem-solving questions.
Atticus viewed a video about the albedo effect. We discussed how albedo is a measure of reflectivity. He added this term and illustration to his science notebook. He answered the follow-up questions.
WE worked on a few rudiments on the drum pad, and then worked on 3 way coordination on the drum set. We also worked on some linear hand and foot patterns.
