We began the lesson discussing the impact of Greek and Latin roots on the English language. Atticus was offered support to complete four (4) pages of exercises to facilitate comprehension, recall, and spelling skills for the fifteen (15) words reviewed, and he demonstrated competence and adequate synthesis, integration, and application of the material when completing the exercises. Atticus worked largely independently on the assignment and maintained good focus throughout.

I subbed for Andy today, Thursday, 5-11-23 - from 9:45 - 10:30.
Atticus recalled events from our last session before continuing to read the next two chapters of ‘The Book Thief.’ In today's events, Leisel experienced her first book burning and the charged energy of the surrounding crowds. Atticus expressed his opinion of that event in history and how we are tasked to learn from history in order to avoid repeating its mistakes.
In our group lesson today, we explored Ancient China. Atticus learned some Chinese words and customs. He located China on a map, and discovered interesting facts about China's early dynasties.
This morning, after reviewing last night's homework, Atticus continued to use a formula to find a missing percentage, part, or whole of percent calculation problems. He determined what information he was given and what he needed to find before writing the equation. Then, he used inverse operations to isolate the variable and solve. Atticus did well solving numerous problems on the whiteboard today and was assigned similar problems for homework.
Atticus and I worked step by step on some gesture figure drawings using the wooden figurines. We worked on creating motion in the spine and then adding the other body parts. We then added color highlights behind our figure drawings.
This morning, Atticus continued to use a formula to find a missing percentage, part, or whole of percent calculation problems. He determined what information he was given and what he needed to find before writing the equation. Then, he used inverse operations to isolate the variable and solve. Atticus continues to struggle with these problems. He was assigned similar problems for homework and we will continue working on this concept tomorrow.
