There are several things we discussed re: current events today. First, Brooks Koepka's victory at this past weekend's PGA Tournament. Cameron says he's the first American golfer to win a PGA who plays in the LIV Golf League. Playing in the LIV has been controversial for many American golfers because it's a Saudi Arabian financed circuit. We then discussed what happened at the G7 Summit in Japan at the end of last week. President Biden returned home to the debt ceiling negotiations that remain at a standstill. In Montana, the governor signed a bill to completely ban TikTok due to security concerns. We concluded by learning about a man who broke a record by visiting the Seven Wonders of the World in less than seven days.

Substituted 3rd period, 10:30 - 11:15 for Kaylee and English class. This is the period I usually teach Kaitlin. Cameron shared that he will be attending Oxbridge next year.
10-5 Compressions and Stretches of Functions – We learned to identify the effect on the graph of a function of multiplying the output by -1. Next we identified the effect on the graph of a function of replacing f(x) by k f(x) or f (k x) for specific values of k. We discovered that the graphs of functions are transformed when the input and output are multiplied by varying factors of k. Multiplying the output by a factor of k stretches or compresses the graph vertically. Multiplying the input by a factor of k stretches or compresses the graph horizontally.
Assignment: Complete the assigned problems for homework.
In today's class, we continued on our topic of anatomy and physiology. Cameron continued to work on a quiz that tests the remaining material we learned on the human body. This includes connective tissue, muscle tissue, nervous tissue, and the skeletal system.
When I walked into Cameron's room for 3rd period at 10:30 (I was subbing for his English class), he told me he was leaving with Matthew M. I notified the front desk and they did get approval for him to leave school from his Mom. Our 5th period/12:30 history class should be remote.
10-4 Translations of Functions – We graphed translations of absolute value, exponential, quadratic, and radical functions. Then we determined how combining translations affects the key features of the graph of a function. Then we learned that changes to the input and output of a function in the form f (x – h) + k result in a translation of the graph of the function. Adding a constant k to the output of the function shifts the graph vertically. Subtracting a constant h from the input of the function shifts the graph horizontally. Then we worked on an end-of-year Algebra 1 test on which Cameron is doing very well.
