Today we looked at the severe winter storms in California. Driveways are blocked and cars are buried under piles of snow in a state known for its beaches and sunny skies. Recently, snow fell in the Hollywood Hills, right near the iconic sign and that never happens! A bipartisan bill unveiled this week could mean an end to the Tik Tok app as we know it as there is concern that it could be a national security risk. Cameron also quickly researched the origins of pickle ball that has become a very popular sport. Cameron plays it sometimes and he shared that his Grandpa plays it and helped yo introduce the sport to FL.

Fahrenheit 451 Activity "Real World Application" continued working on the assignment introduced on Monday. Cameron will be coming up with a proposal for an app that would benefit some group of individuals that does not yet exist.
This goes along with the book as Ray Bradbury dreamed up a myriad of technologies and social concepts when he wrote the book in the 1950s that exist today but seemed far-fetched at the time.

Topic 9 Solving Quadratic Equations
Lesson Outline
9-1 Solving Quadratic Equations Using Graphs and Tables – We reviewed how to use a graph to identify the x-intercepts as solutions of a quadratic equation. If the graph of the function has no x-intercepts then the equation has no real solutions. If the graph touches the x-axis but does not cross it then there is only one x-intercept and one real solution. Next we practiced finding the vertex of the parabola by putting the equation in the form ax2 + bx + c and calculating the x-coordinate by the formula –b/2a and
we found the y-coordinate by using the formula –b/2a. Next we plugged the x-coordinate of the vertex into the original quadratic equation to find the y-coordinate of the vertex.
Assignment: Complete the assigned problems for homework.

Genetics
Lesson Outline
In today's class, we continued our discussion on genetics, including talking about protein synthesis, transcription, and translation. We went over the processes for all and talked about their significance in biology. Cameron took notes that followed along with the material.

What Happened to Nazi War Criminals After WWII?
Lesson Outline
During and after WWII, Allies searched for and arrested Nazi war criminals ranging from Hitler's minister's, military leaders, concentration and death camp officers/employees, doctors, judges and more people who committed crimes against humanity. The Nuremberg Trials (that lasted for four years,) were presided over by an international tribunal of judges. Cameron learned that there were many different verdicts and punishments rendered for the individuals (male and female) who were accused of and convicted of crimes at the Nuremberg Trials. Similar trials happened for those who committed crimes against humanity in the Pacific Theater of WWII, as well.

Lesson Comments
During this remote lesson, Cameron said he had trouble viewing me and the visuals for the lesson. This happened yesterday, as well, during a lesson on the atomic bombings of Hiroshima & Nagasaki while Cameron had a remote class from a car. Other remote students have no issues with the the lap-top I use for remote lessons. I spoke with Pat and Jordy about this issue. If this issue persists, Jordy said he will come to class tomorrow to offer his assistance. Greatly appreciated!
