Liam opened Adobe Illustrator and we worked together to use layers, the line tool, pen tool, and colors to create a three dimensional cube.

We read the story of Johnny Appleseed today. Liam demonstrated his ability to determine the sequence of events in a text. We also worked on inferences, a concept that he struggles with. So, we will be working more on this in the future.

Liam completed reading and discussing an article on friction from his science website. We began a lesson on the Amoeba. He drew a diagram of the amoeba labeling its parts.

Liam completed his math drills in multiplication and division. He completed several activities on averaging and comparing mixed fractions.

We first reviewed the homework assignment given to Liam last Thursday. After activating prior knowledge about the last chapter we read, Liam continued to read on in chapter 7 in "Sadako and the Thousand Cranes." We collaboratively answered several comprehension questions and Liam was asked to reflect on certain expressions to try to ascertain their meaning and the intent of the author's use of literary devices. Liam is encouraged to put himself in the shoes of the character we're discussing and it appears to help him better understand alternative perspectives. Liam and I answered 2 questions after reading chapter 7 together, and he is to answer the two last questions for homework.

Liam created a zombie world where Lincoln Loud and Clyde meet the zombies from Plants vs. Zombies. He downloaded sprites and backgrounds to use in his coding template. He also added background music and dialogue.

Liam began reading and discussing the article from his online Science Site, Exploration Education, about Gravity. He discussed it in detail and completed an activity on Gravity, Friction, Magnetism, Push, and Pull.

Liam worked on several activities comparing proper fractions, comparing mixed numbers and fractions, and adding fractions with like denominators. We watched a video explaining how to compare proper fractions. He completed his multiplication and division drills.

We read a portion of the graphic novel, "The New Kid" and discussed the essential questions, "What stops people from giving up?"

Liam and I collaboratively read Chapter 6 in his book, 'Sadako and the Thousand Cranes.' We circled and defined words with which he was unfamiliar (e.g., throbbing. flustered), and I offered examples of how they might be used in examples/sentences to which he might better connect and relate. Liam was queried on the ways Sadako and the newly introduced character in chapter 6 (Kenji) are alike and different. We made a Venn diagram to highlight the commonalities and differences. Liam contributed examples which pertained to the exercise. Several key concepts were repeated and explained in different ways to facilitate recall and help Liam more effectively synthesize and integrate the information acquired in today's lesson.
