Today helped me set up the new tennis board and we played a game. He did great. Needs work I. His serve though. Game is chess finished with a draw. Liam is becoming more comfortable at school.
Calendar, Warm-Up Activty, Lesson 2.6 Model with Math, Topic 2 Vocabulary Review
Lesson Outline
Liam and I began our session with a calendar activity - identifying the month, day of the week, date, time, weather, and his feelings. Liam then completed a warm-up activity focusing on math skills. Liam completed Lesson 2.6 Model with Math - reading word problems, circling important numbers and solving. Lastly, Liam completed a vocabulary activity on topic 2 vocabulary such as bar diagram, multiplication, factor, multiples, product, identity property, and zero property.
We continued our study of arachnids, labeling the spider's body parts, learning many interesting facts about spiders, and making a Christmas spider. He completed several activities pertaining to arachnids. He put all his written work into his interactive science notebook.
Liam made a 3 dimensional globe. He labeled all the continents and major bodies of water. We discussed the different continents and decided to study the animal habitats of Australia.

Liam and I began our session with a calendar activity - identifying the month, day of the week, date, time, weather, and his feelings. Liam then completed a warm-up activity - ten problems on math topics. Liam then completed Lesson 2.4 Multiply by 10, using place value patterns to multiply by 10. Liam completed Lesson 2.5 Multiplication Facts: 0,1,2,5,9,10 - completing guided practice, independent practice, and problem-solving problems. Liam was able to complete multiplication facts of 10 using mental math. Liam used his multiplication chart to solve multiplication facts of 2, 5, 9.
Liam reviewed his vocabulary words. He read 3 poems, and we discussed how the poems were the same and how they were different. He completed an activity on determining the types of sentences he read, and what punctuation mark should be used. He attended the Holiday party.
Liam imaged, read, spelled, and manipulated sounds in complex syllables with the CCVCC pattern. We also practiced the ccvcc pattern. He completed his reading list with 80% accuracy and spelled with 100% accuracy. We read the Arthur’s Christmas story to conclude our session and apply skills.

Liam then copied down vocabulary words in his math journal - identity property of multiplication and zero property of multiplication. Liam wrote down examples of each property. Liam completed Lesson 2.3 Apply Properties: Multiply by 0 and 1 - using patterns and properties to multiply by zero and one, completing guided practice, independent practice, and problem-solving problems.
Today Liam imaged, read, spelled and manipulated sounds in complex syllables containing all previously practiced patterns. He did an exemplary job with all of the patterns. He also completed his list of words for fluency with a score of 85%. Finally, he read another chapter in Nat.Geo. Kids Deadliest Animals and answered single factual questions about the material.
Poetry Grammar Literature Prefixes Vocabulary Sentences
Lesson Outline
Liam learned about statement and question sentences. He wrote their definitions into his notebook along with which punctuation mark is used for each sentence. He discovered the use of alliteration in poetry. He read a free verse poem about a helicopter. He delved into the Limerick learning it was a poem composed of 5 lines, lines 1,2, and 5 rhyme, while the shorter lines 3 and 4 rhyme. He liked that the Limerick was a funny poem. We wrote a Limerick together. He completed an activity using the prefixes re, dis, and un in context.
