Cam was given song titles to play on both the guitar and drums. He rose to the challenge of playing "Wipe Out,' which is challenging as it requires a lot of effort to keep up with the rhythm and tempo of the piece as it is played so fast. Once you develop the kind of speed necessary for the song, it facilitates the performer to play a whole variety of drum solos and challenging drum pieces, but the challenge is maintaining speed and control. Cam played the song on his phone and played-along-backing track with the drums, using "a simple drum pattern with accented single-stroke roll accompaniment." I was quite impressed at how quickly he picked it up - but was able to play just the beginning as his muscles tensed up - which is common for people picking up the piece. He then picked up his acoustic guitar, (without the amp) and accompanied me playing Hava Nagila on the piano. We actually played it quite well together, in a spirited staccato fashion, which drew a crowd. It was a fun Friday session combining drums, piano, guitar and playing-by-ear technique.
