We went over the layout of the grand staff, and the notes on the lines and in the spaces of the treble and bass clefs. We also talked about piano key associations with the notes.
Kaitlin has been really interested in piano lately, so we have worked on finger exercises, and playing basic melodies. We worked on half scales with right hand, left hand and together. We also worked on the melody to Mary Had a Little Lamb with the right hand, left hand and together. We also worked some on the melody to Tourner Dans Le Vide.
We began learning My Hero by the Foo Fighters. We learned the intro lead and rhythm parts, and worked on the melody guitar part to the chorus, which moves in octaves up and down the guitar neck. We played some piano and did some basic half scale finger exercises, and played the melody to Mary had a Little Lamb.
We worked on the lead solo for One, and began learning the intro riff to Crazy Train. We spent some time working on basic piano technique: finger control, basic C major chord and arpeggio work, and learning a basic arrangement of Mary Had a Little Lamb.
We reviewed the first lead solo in One by Metallica, and we worked on finger technique, and whole step bending. We also spent some time playing on the piano. We learned the C major and A major finger positions, with half scales using the right hand, left hand, and both together.
