I subbed for Delaina and followed her plans for math. Jase did very well with me. He is a very sweet kid and follows directions very well. He enjoyed the place value game but struggles with his multiplication facts. I enjoyed working with Jase.
Jase retold the events from the last chapter of ‘Trapped in a Video Game’ before reading the following two chapters. Our focus while reading was self-monitoring for accuracy and self-correcting when necessary. After reading, we discussed the plotline and predicted how the story would end.
Jase and I began our session with checking his homework - he received an 8/8 on decomposing decimals and a 3/3 on writing the value of decimals. Jase then completed a warm-up activity reviewing fourth-grade math skills. Jase has difficulty with fractions, expanded form, identifying months in order, and angles. Jase then completed two decimal activities - writing the decimal in three different ways - number form, word form, and expanded form and writing the word form of each given decimal. For homework, Jase will complete additional practice - writing eight decimals in three different ways and writing two decimals in word form.
