Lesson 2 The Solar System – We discovered how scientists learn about objects in the solar system. They use telescopes, satellites, rovers, the International Space Station, and computers which help interpret data. Scientists use models to study objects that are too large, too small, or too dangerous to study directly. We discovered that a model cannot show all the characteristics of objects in the solar system.

Review
Lesson Outline
Now that we're done with the curriculum, we went over some of the highlights of the year. PJ said he liked "Christianity," and I pointed out some other topics that seemed to pique his interest which involved the world in spatial terms, using maps and projections and discussing geospatial technologies. He was also interested in learning about the global economy and using maps to draw conclusions. PJ did comment that he felt the book was "too liberal" and distorted topics towards left-leaning philosophies. PJ never hesitates to share his opinions, state preferences, and he is usually well-able to defend his point of view and enthusiastically engages in debates about issues.

Lesson Comments
I had initially planned on making home made mac n' cheese with PJ, but to my surprise he really doesn't like mac n' cheese. Luckily, we were able to put our heads together and come up with an alternative! PJ seemed to have a lot of fun inventing this dish and very much enjoyed the final result. His knife skills have really come a long way and he did a great job chopping the onions, as well as caramelizing and seasoning them himself. The buzzard dogs came excellent and PJ was excited to bring a few home for his family to try.
