We discussed SWOT Analysis and competitive advantage. We learned about the importance of market penetration and building a sustainable advantage.

Today we begin to study the articles El and La, in English "the". The difference between when to use them, depending on the gender of the noun, and then he completed some exercises to practice what he learned. He did such a good job today.

Nicky and I finished reading through the remainder of Lesson 3. Nicky completed the reading companion and section practice questions. We then reviewed some of the major concepts from Lesson 4.

Math vocabulary and working on multiplying fractions -

Lesson 2: Energy Transfers and Transformations – We learned that work is the transfer of energy that occurs when a force makes an object move in the direction of the force and work is only being done while the force is acting on the object. Next we discovered that energy transformations are inefficient because some energy is transformed to a form of energy that is not usable. We learned that a system can be open or closed. An open system is a system that exchanges matter or energy with the environment. A closed system is a system that does not exchange matter or energy with the environment.

Nicky and I read the first half of Lesson 3 out of the textbook. We then made T-charts that covered the responsibilities/duties of citizens, as well as Nicky's personal responsibility/duty chart. We finished with a video that highlighted responsible citizenship.

Lesson 2: Energy Transfers and Transformations – We learned about the law of conservation of energy which states that energy can be transformed from one form to another, but it can’t be created or destroyed. Then we learned that energy transfer takes place when energy moves from one object to another without changing form. Energy transformation occurs when one form of energy is converted to another form of energy. Next we added notes on energy transformations to our science notebook.

Nicky and I reviewed the reading companion activity he had completed for homework. We then went over some of the key concepts from Lesson 2, and watched a brief video on the immigration process, before moving into the first pages of Lesson 3.
