Patterns/Shapes
Lesson Outline
After watching a short academic video, Rosalina worked on a pattern activity. She cut out some shapes, after initially being offered support to do so, and glued them onto the corresponding shapes. I encouraged Rosalina to identify the shapes verbally when queried and to identify the different colors, which she did with ease and fluency. To piggy-back on this skill, Rosalina worked on completing patterns involving farm animals. She also performed a tracing activity and one incorporating upper and lower case letters. Rosalina is quite a bright young girl who possesses many skills and talents. She counted up to 100, (and I knew she could count higher), completed patterns - and made up her own - drew a beautiful symmetrical picture on the chalkboard, and used 18 different colors to paint a design of her own choosing, which was a beautifully detailed rainbow. Rosalina also identified the beginning sounds of different animals shown to her, and achieved 100% on all academic assignments on which she was tasked. Rosalina demonstrates excellent fine-motor and bi-manual coordination skills. Once comfortable, she speaks articulately, communicates her needs using appropriate vocabulary, and advocates for herself effectively. Rosalina rises to academic challenges with confidence and insightful, intuitive instincts. She was a most delightful and precocious student with whom I had the pleasure to work.

Lesson Comments
We used Ms. Janis's room and when I walked in Rosalina was resting. She said she was tired so I allowed her to take a little nap. We then went outside for a few minutes. We completed one activity in math and one in reading. She is extremely good in Math but struggles in Reading. Using rhyming words is very helpful.

All About Me Activity, Read Aloud & Game
Lesson Outline
Rosalina completed an 'All About Me' activity - titled 'I Am Special' - identifying how many letters are in her name; her eye and hair color; her favorite color; birthday and age; tracing her handprint and footprint; measuring her height in inches and feet; drawing her family; identifying her favorite t.v. show and toy; and lastly, what she wants to be when she grows up (dog doctor). I then read aloud, "Where's My Teddy?" and we played a game, hiding a teddy bear and using clues to find it. Rosalina really enjoyed using the words 'hot' or 'cold' as clues.
