Libby was seen in an office for a 45-minute treatment session with focus of session on improving her fine motor skills especially in the area of grasp patterns, ocular motor skills (saccades), self care skills, handwriting, as well as improving her flexibility for wearing different clothing and wearing her hair different ways. Began session with game to work on manipulation and dexterity with moving/translating small object in and out of hand to and from fingertips. We reviewed all previously learned letters which included capitals "A, B, C, D, E, F, G, H, I, J". Libby was able to successfully identify all except letters J and H today. Went over the next five capitals in the alphabet which included letters "K. L, M, N, and O". She was unable to identify K today but we made sparkle letter index cards which she will be able to take home for practice over the summer. Libby wore shorts today for the first time to school. OT and all the teachers told her how proud they are of her and seeing her wearing different things. Great session.
Assignment
Continue to practice the capital letters for recognition.
Met with Amanda today, Libby's mother, to go over her progress in OT and to discuss Libby's learning style. Discussed how Libby was doing well and making steady progress in 1:1 learning environment versus her small group setting in her preschool classroom for retention and recall of information. Discussed monitoring her progress and revisiting if a neuropsychological testing may be beneficial in the future to hone in on her specific learning style.
Sat in small office to work today with excellent compliance and attention to tasks. Libby was able to identify the letters A,B,C,D and E today with 100% accuracy. We began to go over the letter formation and labeling of the letters "F,G,H,I and J" today. She was able to identify all the letters except for "F and H". Libby made sparkle index card letters for these five capitals. These sparkle letters can be used once they dry as tactile/kinesthetic input for Libby as she traces them with her finger. Her recall for the learned letters has shown steady progress. Great session.
