Play letter bingo to recognize letter sounds and symbols for lower and upper case while out of order. Reread sight word book for you & and. Point out the words on the pages. Write the words on the white board. Read together from Frog and Toad.
Today, Libby worked on developing fluency in subtraction using patterns. She used connecting cubes to model problems and visually see how continuing to take one cube from a stack leaves one less cube each time. Then, Libby worked online on a money activity. After a quick review of each coin and bill, she sorted them into groups according to their amounts.
Libby completed her interactive calendar. She read and discussed her vocabulary words. She completed her Calendar talk activity. She read and discussed her 2 new Scholastic Magazines. She worked on her phonics activities. She wrote her ABC's.
Teddy joined us for Libby's cooking class today, and although there were a couple of very minor disputes about who got to do what, it went very well overall. With some gentle guidance they were able to find good compromises that made them both happy and they both did a great job handling and cooking the meat safely and cleanly. Libby was particularly thrilled with how tasty the steak was.

Libby painted her snowman that she had previously sculpted out of clay and then painted a picture on a large piece of paper watercolor paper.

Libby did a great job picking colors for her snowman and was very patient and focused while painting. She then had a lot of fun painting a big picture using lots of colors and including many different characters, some made up and some teachers/friends.
Continue to practice letter sounds and symbols, both in order and out of ABC order. Practice sight words and word families. Re-read sight word story, practicing the sight words from yesterday.
