This morning, Libby and I began with a game of race to 20. We took turns rolling 2 dice and using an addition mat to find the sum. Then, tens frames were filled in using an ink blotter until the first player reached 20 or two tens frames. Next, we continued to work on our lesson on solving addition sentences using connecting cubes to model adding to a group.
Libby and I began with the dice game Tenzi. We each rolled 10 dice as quickly as possible to get all of the dice to show the predetermined number. Then, Libby rolled two dice, placed them on an addition mat, and found the sum using her number line. Our lesson focused on representing addition as adding to. Libby used cubes to model problems on determining the number of cubes needed to add to the initial amount to make the given total.
Using a small dry erase board, writing paper, and glitter pens, Libby practiced her sight words and words with short vowels. She read Bob books with short vowel words. I read a Tomie de Paola book to her, and we looked at his illustrations.
Libby worked on further developing and refining her fine motor coordination skills and fine-finger dexterity as she stayed within the lines of characters she selected using an app to use to color. She independently chose the colors she wished to use for the characters and asked relevant questions as she worked on the picture. Libby effectively followed directives when they were given. She is very inquisitive, asked a lot of questions as she worked, but it did not distract her from completing the task at hand.

I subbed as the art teacher this afternoon, Tuesday, January 07, 2025 from 1:23 - 2:08.
Libby completed her interactive calendar, changing it from December to January using a daily pattern, noting the number of days in the month of January, the weather, new vocabulary words for the winter months, the daily hundreds chart, the daily coin deposit, and telling time. She read and discussed her new vocabulary words and their definitions.
We used writing paper, Play Doh, and a chalkboard to practice new sight words (went, was, one) and short vowels. I read a Tomie de Paola book and talked about his illustrations.
Today, Libby and Teddy worked on physical fitness games.
Today, we stayed inside and did a fitness workout in the Science Center.
We were able to do a variety of different exercises together.
This morning, Libby continued to create her holiday elf. She glued two green egg carton sections together and topped them with a cream-colored section. Then, Libby glued on the glitter hat and google eyes before drawing on the cheeks, nose, and mouth. Finally, Libby glued on yarn for her hair.
Libby worked on a holiday elf craft that she picked out to celebrate the holidays. Today, she painted cardboard egg carton sections green or cream colored and created a green glitter hat topped with a pom-pom. These pieces were set aside to dry and will be assembled tomorrow.
