We cut out and assembled puzzles of numbers in different forms: words, pictures, tick marks, counting blocks, and numerical form. We also did a maze puzzle sheet.
Read "Coco" short story. Watch short video and read a short page about the history of the day, where it is celebrated, and why. Complete sheets, including coloring a sugar skull.

I was so excited that Libby wrote "at" words on the bookmark she made at the Halloween party. I showed her mother who said that Libby did this at home too. When she said Libby likes the stories I read, I told her we are talking about titles and authors. She said that Libby has shown her that too.
Watch two kid videos that explain the history of Halloween and why we celebrate it the way we do today. Libby mentioned they also do a switch witch and she explained how this worked. She then explained that it is fun to trade the candy for a toy that will last a long time. Fill in a color by number Halloween sheet.
Happy Halloween. Libby worked on a fun Jack-o-lantern craft this morning. She rolled a die and according to each roll the eyes, nose, and mouth were determined. Libby cut out the face pieces, glued them onto the template, and colored the pumpkin orange.
Libby completed her interactive calendar. She read and discussed all her vocabulary words. She participated in a candy corn experiment exploring what happens to a candy corn if placed in different solutions. She made predictions, and then wrote down what actually happened when candy corn was placed in hot water, cold water, oil, and vinegar.
Libby practiced short vowel words with pumpkins with words. I wrote words on the dry erase board for her to read. She used glitter pens and writing paper to practice her short vowel words. I read Mo Willems stories to her with the stuffed elephant and pig.
Libby had the opportunity to cycle through a number of activities today by simply expressing her likes and dislikes in Spanish.
I would ask her in Spanish if she likes a specific activity. If she wanted to do that activity, she would respond saying Yes, I like to ... in Spanish.
Libby seemed a little under the weather today. She chose to rest when she was able to chose. The phrase me gusta may be one of the ones that Libby has done best with all year. Once or twice she did revert back to the phrase Me toca from when we were learning my turn but for the most part did a stellar job today.
Recess happened during Libby and my session today. Luckily, Teddy was out for recess as well and remembered how to choose to race. So, during recess all three raced and we started the race by using our Spanish.
