Libby completed her interactive calendar, She read and discussed her vocabulary words. She worked on several activities about pumpkins. She read and discussed her Scholastic News magazine, and watched a video about making boats out of giant pumpkins.

Libby used rubber stamps to match upper and lower case letters. She used paint brushes to practice short vowel words. On writing paper she practiced short vowel words. I read another Jan Brett book, and we discussed it.
As a follow up to Piper Chen Sings, talk about what traditions are and any we have in our families, especially for holidays. Read Chicks and Salsa as a funny way to show how animals have traditional food and want to eat something different so they make salsa. Talk about what traditions we all have to prepare for a party.
Talk about who makes rules at home and at school. Recall who is in charge of the nation, state, and city. Read "LaRue for Mayor". Talk about how we have a lot of people making laws by reading Pg 98-99. Complete workbook Pg 70-71.
Libby used the phrase Me gusta... to express different things that she likes. She then traced the phrase me gusta and drew some things that she likes below the words.
Libby was asked a series of questions about things that she likes and then answered the questions with either Si, me gusta or no, no me gusta.
Talk about what a leader is. Describe what a mayor, governor, and president are while comparing/contrasting them. Read 94-97 in textbook and do 68-69 in workbook. Read "Green Bear For President."
This morning, Libby worked on a pumpkin patch shape graphing activity. She colored and counted the amount of 5 different pumpkin shapes from a color and count pumpkin patch page. Then, she used those totals to make a graph by coloring each column to represent the amounts. Libby will continue this activity tomorrow by answering questions on the graph data.
