Libby completed her interactive calendar. She plotted her pumpkin information/data about how much her pumpkin weighed with and without a lid, and with and without seeds on a graph. She completed several additional activities pertaining to her pumpkin unit of study.
Libby used magnetic letters to practice short a words. She used Twistables to practice short e words. On writing paper, she wrote short u words. We did an emotions activity with Inside Out magnets and talked about Piper Chen Sings. I read a Jan Brett book to her.
Libby was guided through the verbs escuchar, hablar, ver, jugar, caminar.
She is working on her pronunciation of escuchar.
She then planned out a picture wherein she drew at least one character who was either listening, speaking, seeing, playing, and/or walking.
Libby chose to draw a zoo. She had a walking giraffe, a separate talking and playing whale, a penguin who was listening and people who were looking at the penguin.
This morning, Libby worked on a number sense activity. She cut out fall apple cards numbered 1 through 10 and turned them upside down. Then, Libby chose a card and flipped it over, read the number, pointed to it on the number line with a pointer, found the one more and one less digit, and used a dry-erase marker to model it on a ten frame. Then, using a 1 through 10 deck of cards, I quickly flipped over the cards while Libby looked for and smacked the number she was working on until she had all the numbers. Finally, Libby ordered the number cards in a row from least to greatest and stacked them from greatest to least.
Libby completed her interactive calendar. She completed several activities using her pumpkin. She weighed it before and after she took out the seeds, with a lid and without a lid, and then recorded the results on paper and on a graph. She toasted the pumpkin seeds.
Libby used the Boogie Board to practice writing words with short vowels. I used the rubber letters to spell words for her to read. Using writing paper, Libby wrote short o words. We sang Old McDonald with short vowels. I read another Jan Brett book, and we talked about it.
Libby began with the number of the day activity. She practiced writing the number 8 in standard and word form, circled it on a number line, colored 8 base ten blocks, showed 8 in a 10 frame, and wrote the 1 less and 1 more digit. Today's lesson was on counting numbers to 10. Libby counted groups of objects while focusing on moving her counting finger at the same time as her mouth said each number. She also practiced writing the digits 0 - 10 and found quantities 1 less or 1 more than the given numbers.
