Exam Review
Lesson Outline
The session began with a map geography quiz. Baylie was asked to answer a series of geography questions on the Middle East, Europe, and Asia. She answered all of the questions correctly. Next she had a brief review of the impact of mission work and missionaries in Asia. Baylie also discussed the Renaissance and how it changed the world during that time period. She ended the review session playing a Kahoot game about the Crusades. Baylie should do very well on her World History exam. She is an excellent student!

Current events - weather
Lesson Outline
We began today's session researching the question: why do we name tropical storms? Although we learned that the storms are given short, distinctive names to avoid confusion and streamline communications, Ben remained insistent that we should avoid naming hurricanes 'Rose,' which was one named for the 17th hurricane, but that they should be ascribed scarier names "so people are warned and get out of the way." We then read other current events news items, and Ben demonstrated good synthesis of the information and offered insightful commentary when queried during discussion.

Lesson Comments
Ben was initially sitting in Cabo's room as Cabo had his lizard out and atop the cage, but he returned to the classroom after learning food was to be arriving. The food worked very well during yesterday's practice session as well; Ben was permitted to finish his eating first or he claimed he would not take the test. He also said he did not recall me leaving test-taking strategies and review sheets on his desk the week or two prior, but apologized saying he drew a blank about everything 'test-related.' I asked if he read the questions, and he said yes - yet he did not remember saying that he was happy to see a cartoon on the test. When I told him what exactly he had said, however, he admitted that he could see himself saying it. He did not, however, remember my other test-taking strategies and subsequently apologized for saying he would "break my fingers" when I initially had difficulty scrolling down an article on the laptop. However, when I welcomed his hand-over hand guidance, it seemed as if he felt bad for initially becoming frustrated and losing his patience.

Baylie began the review session by identifying bodies of water and countries around the world. She was asked to support her responses for essay type questions. Baylie had to give at least three reasons for the answers that were given. For the final part of the session Bayiie and the instructor reviewed chapters 7-9, 10 and the Renaissance from her history textbook. Excellent session.

Baylie continued to review for the end of the year exam. For map skills she identified various countries in Europe, Asia, and the Middle East. Baylie was asked to review the effects of Christianity on Europe and Asia. We discussed the Renaissance, the Charleston field trip, and Missions. These topics might be a part of an essay required for the exam. The final part of the lesson was spent playing the game Kahoot. Baylie played Kahoot on Renaissance 2 and Chapter 10 from her history textbook. Baylie continues to put forth maximum effort on every aspect of her assignments.
