For the first 20 minutes of the session Jack was meeting with his therapist.
The second part of the session was spent trying to get Jack to do something for the class.
Unfortunately, I was unable to get Jack to do anything.
Topic 13, Lesson 1: Equivalent Fractions: Use Models. Objectives: Find equivalent fractions that name the same part of the whole. Jack will name equivalent fractions. Jack will watch a Brainpop jr movie, Equivalent Fractions. We will work with a fraction tower/ manipulatives if time permits.

Lesson Comments
Jack was off task. I will add to this comments section later.
We attempted to read Chapter 5, lesson 5, to learn about the actions of American heroes, Harriet Tubman and Frederick Douglass, but Jack was having a difficult day behaviorally. He repeatedly engaged in behaviors that posed a threat to his own and others' safety, such as trying to wheel himself out of the room, and place objects in his lava lamp. When it was time to go online with Jonathan, his therapist, he repeatedly turned off the connection, requiring administration's intervention. I plan to resume our lesson discussion of heroes tomorrow.

Lesson Comments
I learned that Jack's mom forgot to give him his medication this morning. She came to school at the end of his lunch period, at 12:30, to deliver his meds. He repeatedly engaged in behaviors that posed a threat to his own and others' safety.
Jack chose to build a fort instead of doing his classwork. Jack was reminded of what we needed to get completed for the day's work but he chose to build a fort.
Jack read about the mouth and nose in a Magic School Bus science book on the human body. We discussed how human mouths are too small to hold wisdom teeth, which is why they must be pulled. We discussed how milk teeth lose blood vessels and nerves which causes the tooth to die and fall out so an adult tooth can grow in.
After lunch/ recess, Jack brought 3 cups of a "drink" he made (a mixture of IZZI and Milkshake) to the classroom, against my advice/ wishes. Once in the classroom, he was insistent that I drink one. Things escalated quickly, as I refused. He became angry and physically aggressive. I tried to leave classroom to get assistance/ advice but he stopped me by blocking me in hall and pushing me. A lot of pushing in the hall. I told him it was unacceptable to be physical. I knew I had to let someone know, so i of course tried to text . He then took my cell phone. A few minutes later, he became emotional and opened up about his parents wanting to send him to boarding school next year and that he does not want to miss out on what is left of Dominoe's (his dog) life. He also expressed lingering grief over his dog Callie's passing last year. He stated he would not get to see her again for 71 more years. Profound. Jack then started building anew fort while I was logging him in for testing. He began test in fort, but never started it. He was trying to hack into computer (again.)
