Lesson Topic
Hurricanes
Lesson Outline
With hurricane Dorian on the way, I took the opportunity to teach GT about hurricanes. It wasn't a biology lesson, but after a few questions I ascertained that he had little knowledge on the topic. This was a good physics review for him, as it involves the Law of Conservation of Energy, forces (especially pressure), and heat, and how all these factors come together to create a hurricane. We watched and discussed a couple of videos on hurricane formation. The thermographic images used in the videos led into a discussion on the energy levels of different colors of light.
