Lesson Topic
Characteristics of life; hierarchy of life
Lesson Outline
Today GT brainstormed the characteristics shared by all life forms. We especially focused on metabolism and homeostasis. We examined bloodwork results to see all the things in the bloodstream that need to be kept at the right levels. We also discussed briefly why viruses are not classified as organisms (they do not meet all the criteria for life) and contrasted them with bacteria. GT then took notes on the hierarchy of living systems below the level of organism. We briefly discussed cells, tissue, organs, and organ systems. We then used 3d chem to look at glucose and insulin molecules. GT was engaged and did great!
