Session Date
Lesson Topic
evolutionary theory; artificial selection; homologous structures
Lesson Outline
First we discussed Lamarckian evolution as a way of explaining evolution prior to Darwin's Theory. We discussed Alfred Russel Wallaces' independent development of the theory of natural selection and how it prompted Darwin to publish. We started looking through my "evidence for evolution" slideshow, starting with artificial selection. We ended by examining homologous structures, specifically the pentadactyl limb of tetrapods, and looked at diagrams of coelacanth fins vs ray-finned fish.
